Getting Fit

Little Bites

It is almost 7:00 p.m., and I haven’t worked out yet, this photo is a reminder to me of where I want to be one day, flexible, lean and living life to the fullest, so I am going to go outside and run up and down the stairs for at least 20 minutes to get my heart rate up, and then I will come back and let you know how it went.

You know your out of shape when you set the timer for 20 minutes, and you are sure you have done close to five minutes and only 2 minutes have passed, Lol.  I didn’t make it to 20 minutes, but I did get past the half-way point to 11 minutes.

I have never been consistent with working out, and I have a destructive habit of comparing myself to everyone around me. For example; my husband in our 30 years of marriage, his weight has gone up and down, whereas mine has mostly gone up – sigh.  The difference is, it doesn’t seem to take him very long to lose it.

I have read all the articles about little things that you can do to lose weight, like cutting out soda, I bet that would help me a lot, except that I rarely ever drink “pop” and my drink of choice is actually water, not many calories there.  My husband on the other hand, has been drinking diet soda almost all his life, and he still manages to drink it and lose weight.

I do know my eating habits need to change. I need to focus on “little bites”.  I think for my weight loss journey “little bites” will be my motto for everything. I tend to be an all or nothing type of girl, but that hasn’t really worked out for me, so when it comes to working out, I plan to take it in “little bites,” at least for starters.

Tell me about your weight loss struggles, successes and strategies.
